1. The Miniature GoKart
Want to add some thrill to your mundane routine with some kart racing on the weekends? Then this is just what you need. One of the best parts about this GoKart is the ease of control making it the ideal idea for first-time GoKart users.
Plus, as the name suggests, it is pretty compact so if you have a small garage, you should have no trouble storing it when not in use.
It comes with a 36″ x 24″ frame and is capable of going 20+ miles an hour. Though keep in mind that you will need prior experience with tools and equipment as it isn’t the easiest to build.

2. The Wooden Downhill GoKart
If you are looking for something easy peasy this wooden GoKart is just perfect. Plus, it is one of the most compact karts on the list making it another great DIY for anyone short on space.
Oh, and it gives you the power to customize it based on your preferences as well. For example, you can add a more comfortable seat if you want or not if you want to save on the cost.
To make this, all you need is10 foot 2×4 lumber, 3 non-swivel wheels, wood screws, bolts, and nuts along with tools like a table saw, sander, etc.

3. A GoKart for the Kids
If you want to make a safe yet fun GoKart for your kids, this vintage-looking car is just what the doctor ordered.
And while it may look metallic in the pic above, it is all wood giving you the freedom to paint it in their favorite colors.
Furthermore, if you go step-by-step with the plan, it will also have an adjustable seat and luggage space.
It is also equipped with a 350W engine, bicycle wheels, and so your kid feels like he’s driving a real car, there is a voltmeter as well.
Just make sure you get the measurements right so your kids fit in properly. It isn’t your typical GoKart design but the safety of your kids is paramount, right?
4. Gravity-Powered GoKart
One for the teenagers, this GoKart follows a more traditional design and will also give your kids some early driving lessons. Oh, and it is made completely from scrap which also makes it a cost-effective GoKart idea.
The only drawback with this GoKart is that it needs to be pushed uphill and compared to the wooden GoKart, this one is a tad harder to push.
You’ll also need some experience if you use scrape as it might require cleaning and restoration.
5. The Two Seater GoKart
Want to go on a ride with your kid or wife? Then you’ll love this Two-Seater GoKart plan.
Again, this isn’t the easiest to build. In fact, there’s a 26-page PDF that details out the steps, tools, and equipment you need. Plus, it isn’t cheap but the ride is smooth and quick if you want it to be.
Yes, it has a powerful motor, clutch, throttle, brakes along with a solid metal frame and a cushioned seat to ensure your safety and comfort.
6. The Highway GoKart
This is one of my favorite GoKarts on the list as it stands out from others in many ways. For example, it comes with headlights, taillights, and turn signals which means you can even use it on the road without violating any traffic regulations.
For this reason, I’d also suggest using only quality materials for the GoKart. This includes the brakes, wheels, tires, etc. to support the strong metallic body in ensuring your safety.

7. The Budget GoKart
While it isn’t like a traditional GoKart for anyone that’s looking to build a GoKart for their kids on a tight budget, it is a decent alternative and should take you no more than a few hours (or lesser).
All you need are 4 wooden boards along with wheels, nails, and bolts and to bring the kart to a halt, a simple metallic rod is all you need.

8. The Electric GoKart
Another 2 person GoKart with a touch of modernity is this electric GoKart that you can use pretty much anywhere and everywhere (even indoors if you have a big enough house)
But what’s important is that it is an eco-friendly GoKart with ample ground clearance for a comfortable ride.
It isn’t the fastest but pretty durable. Though the drawback with this GoKart is that you need both technical and construction knowledge to get it working correctly.

9. The Plastic Chair GoKart
Probably the most innovative GoKart on the list, this plastic GoKart is ideal for riding indoors or small rides on the outside since it is pretty basic.
As the name suggests, this has a plastic chair for seating and while that makes it cheap, it isn’t the most comfortable GoKart.
Plus, it doesn’t have brakes in the plan but if you have experience, you can find a way to integrate it into the GoKart.
Building it is simple and once you have all the tools, equipment, and material needed, it should not take you more than 5-6 hours to get the job done.
10. Push GoKart
Here’s another simple GoKart idea that shouldn’t take more than a few hours to build and is perfect for kids to play in the yard or indoors. That’s because it doesn’t require any motor or metal that needs cutting.
A few wooden blocks along with some glue, nuts, and bolts are all that you need. Once again, opt for good tires and brakes ensures you can halt it anytime adding to the safety of using it indoors.

11. The Riding Mower GoKart
If you have a riding mower that you no longer use as it is old or has broken down and is sitting in your garage collecting dust, why not build something exciting using it, right?
The most challenging part here is to disassemble the riding mower but if you can get expert help or do it yourself, you are in for a treat.
This GoKart comes with steering, brakes, throttle, for a thrilling experience and a kill switch for added safety.

12. The Solar-Powered GoKart
