1. DEWALT DCS570P1 Cordless Circular Saw with Brake Kit

QUICK SUMMARY

  • Powerful and fast enough to cut through almost anything
  • Good battery life and comes with fast charging technology
  • Make angle cuts at even 57-degrees
  • Excellent battery life
DEWALT 20V MAX* 7-1/4-Inch Cordless Circular Saw with Brake Kit (DCS570P1)

If you want the absolute best cordless circular saw and are willing to pay the big bucks for it, the DEWALT DCS570P1 is an absolute beast, and being a kit makes usage and storage hassle-free.

That is because, unlike bare tools, a kit includes battery packs and a fast charger which saves you a ton of time and money.

And yes, I said fast charge which means your circular saw takes as much time to charge as your smartphone (about 30 mins to 1 hr), so you never left waiting too long.

Furthermore, part of the kit is a bag that makes it easy to carry and store the saw, battery packs, charger, etc. from place to place. It also makes storage easy as your saw is protected from dust and dirt.

Coming to the saw, the powerful 20V motor churns out an amazon speed of 5500 rpm even when under load allowing you to cut through any kind of wood with ease.

And to ensure accuracy when cutting with that speed, DEWALT has made sure their saws are equipped with an ergonomic handle that perfectly contours the hand providing you a strong and comfortable grip.

Plus, it is rubberized, so even if you were using it sweaty or wet hands, it minimizes the chances of a mishap. And if you think you need extra support, there’s also a support handle or pommel on the rear that helps distribute the stress further.

But in case there is a mishap, or you think the cut is going awry, the saw instantly comes to a half thanks to the effective electric brakes that are conveniently placed for quick access.

Also conveniently placed are the cut depth and bevel angle adjustments. Oh, and it bevels up to 57-degrees, much higher than other similar saws giving greater versatility. And the locks for the bevel are perfectly tight. So neither does it automatically change positions nor is it too tight to loosen when needed.

The motor is well protected by the metal housing making it a rock-solid saw which can easily handle a few bumps and even a few drops of water. But in case you still have any problem the saw is backed by a 3-year warranty.

On the downside, I wish it had an LED light as it would have made getting accurate cuts in low light easier, but that’s a small price sacrifice for an otherwise durable, powerful, and easy-to-use circular saw.

Pros
  • Electric brakes stop the saw instantly
  • Maintains 5500 rpm even under load
  • Powerful enough to cut through any kind of wood
  • Ergonomic handle for a comfortable and strong grip
  • Rubberized handle prevents slipping
  • Bevels to 57-degrees for intricate cuts
  • Metal housing provides excellent durability
  • Excellent battery life
  • Takes 30-mins to recharge thanks to the fast charge
  • Kit includes bag and battery for convenient usage and carrying

Cons
  • No LED lights
  • Heaviest saw on the list

If you are looking for just a tool and not the entire kit from DEWALT with similar speed, power, and ease of use, the DEWALT DCS570B is the saw for you.

2. Makita XSH04ZB

QUICK SUMMARY

  • Automatic speed control increases durability and battery life
  • Get accurate cuts in low light with powerful LED Lights
  • 50-degree bevel makes it very versatile
  • Amazing battery life
Makita XSH04ZB 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Sub-Compact Brushless Cordless 6-1/2” Circular Saw, Tool Only

If there is one brand that can go toe to toe with DEWALT, it is Makita and their XSH04ZB cordless circular saw shows exactly why.

One of the few advantages that the Makita has over the DEWALT is first, the battery life. While the DEWALT gives you about 100 cuts, the Makita gives an amazing 174 cuts.

It also comes with an LED light. This means you can get equally accurate cuts even when working in low-light conditions (night or day, you can now work based on your convenience).

Another thing I love about this cordless saw is that it is about 3 lbs lighter than the DEWALT and thus easier to use and carry around when needed.

Also adding to the convenience of using the saw is the onboard blade wrench, which eliminates the need to carry a wrench separately or having to stop the sawing to grab a wrench, in turn, ensuring you can get more work done in less time.

Furthermore, it is also equipped with electric brakes, which means the saw comes to a halt in just 1-2 seconds ensuring the utmost safety of both you and the cut.

Its cutting depth and power are a tad lower than the DEWALT but still manages to slice through even thick wooden planks with ease. The 18V motor delivers an excellent speed of 5000 rpm under load, and automatic speed technology makes managing all the speed and power a breeze.

That is because the saw automatically adjusts the speed based on the material it is being used on, in turn, increasing the durability and battery life.

When you pay over $100 for a saw you also want it to last you long, right? Well, the Makita saw is just as durable as any saw out there. While the aluminum base means it stands tall against a few bumps, the magnesium blade cover keeps it razor-sharp even after a few years of usage.

The only drawback here is that you will need to purchase the battery and charger separately as it isn’t a kit. Neither do you get a carry bag.

But if that isn’t a deal-breaker for you and you don’t need something as powerful as the DEWALT, this is another cordless circular saw worth every penny.

Pros
  • Automatic speed control for added convenience
  • Electric brakes stop the saw in seconds
  • Amazing battery life
  • Excellent durability and blades remain sharp for years
  • Lightweight and compact so easy to maneuver and move
  • LED lights make working in low light a breeze
  • Rubberized, ergonomic grip for easy handling
  • Ideal for most cutting and ripping jobs
  • 50-degree bevel for angled cuts

Cons
  • Not as powerful as the DEWALT saw
  • Battery and carry case need to be purchased separately

3. BLACK+DECKER BDCCS20B Circular Saw (Best Budget Cordless Circular Saw)

QUICK SUMMARY

  • Ideal for budget buyers as it costs less than $50
  • Rubberized, ergonomic handle for easy usage
  • Compact and lightweight thus easy to store
  • Decent battery life considering the price range
Black And Decker 20-Volt 5-1/2-In Cordless Circular Saw (Bare Tool Only)

Looking for something on the cheap for occasional use? What if I told you that you can get something for less than $50? (yes, you heard that right).

But its low price isn’t the only reason to get this. Here’s all about it.

Though cheap, I was pleasantly surprised by the power and speed it delivers. At 3000 rpm, it can easily handle all your DIY projects at home (plastic or plywood, it will sly through them like a hot knife through butter).

And adding to the versatility of the saw is its ability to make bevel cuts at 45-degrees and 90-degrees when needed. Not as flexible as the Makita or DEWALT, but considering its price, it is all you need for home projects.

The handle is at par with any cordless saw out there ensuring a snug fit around the hand, which is important for accurate cuts and safety.

Rubberized grip ensures sweaty hands don’t result in a slip while the trigger is conveniently located for easy on/off without having to move the hand away from the handle.

And when the going gets tough, to help you better control the saw with both hands, there’s also the pommel at the back.

Another thing I like about the saw is its compact size and low weight build. It weighs just 6 lbs making so moving it around should be easy even with your tired hands.

The battery life isn’t as impressive as the saws mentioned above but much better than the Ryobi in the same price range. Thankfully, it charges quickly, so you aren’t left waiting for too long. Also, this is only the bare tool which means the battery needs to be purchased separately.

Also, its durability is average. You only want to use this occasionally and not for long hours on a stretch as it can hamper motor life.

Plus, there aren’t any LED lights on getting accurate cuts in low light can be tough, and neither does it have electric brakes, so use it with care

Pros
  • Costs less than $50
  • Decent battery life considering the price range
  • Rubberized grip to prevent any slips
  • The trigger is placed for easy access (you won’t have to leave the handle)
  • Supports bevel cuts at 45-degrees and 90-degrees
  • Compact and lightweight
  • Pommel provides a stronger grip when needed
  • Good battery life for the price

Cons
  • No LED lights
  • Only suitable for small DIY tasks
  • No electric brakes

4. Metabo HPT Cordless Circular Saw

QUICK SUMMARY

  • Electric brakes halt it in seconds
  • It is equipped with one of the deepest cutting blades
  • Good durability and blades remain sharp for years
  • Bevels at 45-degrees for angled cuts
Metabo HPT Cordless Circular Saw | Tool Only | No Battery | 18V | 6-1/2' Deep Cut Design | Brushless Motor | Lifetime Tool Warranty | C18DBALQ4

Another bare tool that’s worth considering if you need a circular saw for less than $200 is the Metabo HPT, and here’s what I love and hate about it.

Equipped with an 18V motor that delivers speeds of 4100 rpm under load, the HPT is a great mid-range buy that can handle small to medium-range cutting making it a great starting point for hobbyist woodworkers.

What I like most about this saw is its razor-sharp 6-inch blade that is one of the deepest cutting blades in this price range at about 2-19/32-in. And these can be angled cuts as well as it bevels at 45-degrees.

Another awesome feature is the efficient electric brakes that bring the saw to a stop instantly adding to the safety of using the saw while helping you maintain accuracy.

The handle lived up to my expectations. The pommel in tandem with the rubberized grip will help you get through the most ardent of cuts with utmost accuracy and safety (it won’t slip out even if your hands are wet).

The build is also solid, putting it at par with the Makita and DEWALT, and the blades continued to cut deep even after 1 year of use. Battery life is also pretty good, which is a huge plus considering charging it takes longer than the DEWALT and Makita as there is no fast charge.

As for the weight and dimensions, it remains lightweight at about 6.8 lbs so if you do need to move it around, you won’t need to bring out the hulk in you. The compact size also makes it easy to put away when not in use.

One of the few drawbacks of the saw is that there are no LED lights which is a bit surprising considering its price range. Plus, you do not want to work on heavy-duty wood with it as it lacks the power and speed to cut through it easily.

Pros
  • Ideal circular saw for hobbyist woodworkers
  • Bevels at 45-degrees for angled cuts
  • Good battery life
  • Great durability and blades maintain sharpness
  • Weighs just 6.8lbs and is pretty compact for easy storage
  • Rubberized grip for comfortable handling
  • Comes with electric brakes
  • Its blades are one of the deepest cutting ones

Cons

5. SKIL PWRCore (Budget Kit)

QUICK SUMMARY

  • Gives 100 cuts with just 5 minutes of charging
  • Comes with a dust blower and LED lights for a clear line of sight
  • Weighs just 4.8 lbs
  • Bevels to 50-degrees for angled cuts
SKIL PWR CORE 12 Brushless 12V Compact 5-1/2 Inch Circular Saw, Includes 4.0Ah Lithium Battery and PWR JUMP Charger - CR541802, Red

If you are looking for a kit for home use and cannot afford the DEWALT, the SKIL PWRCore is available for less than $150. But there’s more to it than just that.

At 4.8 lbs, there’s hardly any cordless circular saw that can match the portability of the SKIL, and since it uses a digital brushless motor, it is also compact.

For a low-costing kit, I was also quite impressed with the battery life. This mainly comes down to the ability of the saw to remain cool even with a heavy load as each cell is wrapped with cooling material. This increases the battery life by almost 25%

And when you do need to charge it, you only need to keep it for 5 minutes which is good enough for another hundred cuts making it the fastest charging saw on the list.

Not just that, it will also charge your mobile. No, not kidding, there’s a USB port that allows you to use its battery and charge your mobile and other essential accessories in an emergency.

For cheaper saw, the electric brakes are a nice addition. Though it takes longer to stop than the others, it does add to the safety.

Do you often lose sight of the markings while sawing due to low light or all the dust? Not anymore. Not only does it have LED lights, but also comes with an integrated dust blower to keep the line of sight crystal clear.

To top it all, it bevels to 50-degrees for finer angled cuts. This level of bevel is only seen in premium DEWALT and Makita saws.

Pros
  • Bevels to 50-degrees for angled cuts
  • Gives 100 cuts with just 5 minutes of charging
  • Excellent battery life thanks to special cooling technology
  • LED lights give clear line of sight in low light
  • Dust blower removes any debris or dust impeding your view
  • Allows you to charge mobile, etc. with USB port
  • Weighs just 4.8 lbs

Cons
  • Suitable for household tasks only
  • Durability is average

Conclusion

Those are my picks for the best cordless circular saws in 2023. Cordless saws make cutting and ripping easy. Not just because they are powerful but also since you can work with them anywhere without having to worry about a power source.

DEWALT rules the roast, closely followed by the Makita for professionals. For budget buyers, there’s the Black and Decker while Metabo is another saw worth considering.
